Service Description: This interactive web map provides a means by which the general public, growth planning and administrative staff can understand the relative location and extent associated with a wide variety of student demographic information of ±47,000 students from those public schools within Lake County as of March 12th, 2018. The importance of understanding the demographics of our student population is more important than ever with the ever changing nature of immigrants and the increased need for bilingual education. Add to that the increased pressures in public education to compete with the ever growing and popular private and public conversion charter schools. The geographic clustering that occurs with various social-economic groups is important to understand while focusing on the educational needs of our student population. The economics cost associated with these demographics on the school district and local governments is obvious when having to provide specialized services to meet their needs.
