Service Description: This GIS layer file represents 786 planning blocks that make up the 2018-2019 master attendance boundaries for all elementary, middle and high schools for both general education and McKay scholarship students. The attribute table also includes bus depot (or bus lot) assignment information based on the general service area of each school. These boundaries are formulated to establish student assignments as provided for by currently adopted 2018-2019 attendance zone boundaries under the jurisdiction of the Lake County School Board as provided for in District Policy Number 5.20 (https://www.lake.k12.fl.us/cms/lib/FL01000799/Centricity/Domain/92/Policy_5.20_2018_Final.pdf). This ultimately establishes the creation of residential attendance zones for each school for student assignment purposes based on the geographic location of their home address or domicile as provided under this formal Board Policy. This layer also acts as an important planning tool to assist the planning staff, principals, and administrators within the School District with understanding and depicting in table and map form the broader or aggregate student counts and student demographics within smaller planning areas within the respective attendance boundaries. These planning areas are utilized as "puzzle pieces" with the Advisory Boundary Committee's (ABC) in assessing and planning attendance boundary changes while understanding the potential impacts on school and student demographics. These areas allow for the depiction of aggregate student demographic information to the public without jeopardizing the confidentiality of individual students. These planning areas were primarily created with logical divisions related to transportation routing in mind and were formulated down to a parcel-based scale. The physical size of blocks, the numbers of students or residential households inside each block were not necessarily important in their development.
