Service Description: This GIS layer file contains embedded in it the currently adopted 2018-2019 School attendance boundaries under the jurisdiction for all grade levels for the Lake County School Board as provided for in District Policy Number 5.20 (https://www.lake.k12.fl.us/cms/lib/FL01000799/Centricity/Domain/92/Policy_5.20_2018_Final.pdf) establishing the creation of residential attendance zones for each school for student assignment purposes based on the geographic location of their home address or domicile as provided under this policy. This GIS layer also contains the current status for the areas known as FTE Student Transportation Category Assignment as well as the Parent Responsibility Zones (PRZ’s) for the 2018-2019 School Year for Public Non-Conversion Charter Schools (Exception: Round Lake Charter School). These areas typically correspond to the areas identified by the State which do not provide FTE funding reimbursement for students living within 2-miles from school in accordance with 1011.68 and 1002.22(17) for the Florida Statues except for certain exceptions as provided for in said State Statute and by School Board Policy. The exception to this State policy was enacted by Board Policy for those areas identified under 8.31(11) (https://www.lake.k12.fl.us/cms/lib/FL01000799/Centricity/Domain/92/Policy%208.31_102413.pdf). The School Board can designate a “Local Hazardous Conditions” that may include “Hazardous Conditions” and “Hazardous Walking Conditions” under Florida Statutes section 1006.23. Local Hazardous Conditions that may be determined to be dangerous for elementary school children, grades K through 5. These areas identify the places where general education elementary (primary & secondary), middle & high school students are not eligible for district transportation. The primary purpose of this GIS layer is to assist GIS staff with identifying student assignment and transportation zones for internal analysis purposes for general education students. This GIS layer is not intended for general public use, but for internal use only for administrative purposes.
