Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolygon
Description: This GIS layer file represents the currently adopted 2018-2019 Elementary (Secondary) School attendance zone boundaries under the jurisdiction of the Lake County School Board as provided for in District Policy Number 5.20 (https://www.lake.k12.fl.us/cms/lib/FL01000799/Centricity/Domain/92/Policy_5.20_2018_Final.pdf) establishing the creation of residential attendance zones for each school for student assignment purposes based on the geographic location of their home address or domicile as provided under this policy. Secondary attendance boundaries are created for the purposes of assigning students an alternative non-charter public school who lives within the primary attendance boundary for a conversion charter school. For attendance purposes, state law (1002.33) requires that a school district accept any children who do not wish to attend or were denied from attendance at a conversion charter school. The secondary boundary acts as an overlay zone that will provide the child with an alternative (non-charter) school assignment for which they will be able to attend and be afforded district transportation. The primary purpose of this GIS layer file is to assist District administrative staff, school staff, parents of students and the general public with determining the appropriate secondary elementary school assignment accurate to an individual tax parcel or residential address for the use of attendance zone boundaries for general education students under the responsibility of the Lake County School District. Because of state and local educational choice options afforded under the controlled open enrollment process these zones may not apply to students who qualify and are not limited to special need students, magnet programs or students within special state funded programs.
